Shine Camp

Shine 2018!

No, that's not a typo. Shine Camp is taking a break in 2017 but will be back in the summer of 2018. We hope you're not too disappointed. We believe this wee break will mean Shine Camp will be even better when it returns next year!

If you have any queries about Shine Camp please do contact us or follow us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to keep up with all the latest news from The Big House including our camps.

Shine Camp, Moyallon Centre, August 2016

Tubing at Shine 2012Shine is our summer camp for young people who have learning difficulties. The camp is designed for young people aged 12-17 who have moderate to severe learning difficulties, who are independent in their personal care and who can themselves up and down a flight of stairs. Not only is the camp for them but they are welcome to bring a teenage sibling or Christian youth leader with them as well!

Where are we going and what will we be doing?

Shine Camp, Crawfordsburn, August 2015

Katherine and Lyndsay report from Shine 2015

The 14th August was an important date in The Big House summer calendar as it marked the start of SHINE 2015! We were delighted to welcome campers  (both old and new) to our action packed three night residential for young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties.  God’s joy and excitement descended onto Crawfordsburn Scout Centre when the young people arrived and were reunited with familiar faces, and new friendships were also quickly built.
Our jam packed weekend consisted of ice breakers, games, crafts, singing, sand castles, dancing, water rafting, and archery (to name a few). We even had the time to welcome special guests to camp and had the opportunity to take part in an authentic (and noisey) African drum circle with Joe from “The Gathering Drums”, as well as letting our artistic juices flow by creating clay minions with “Jude’s Clay”.
